PAX Value Project

"But seek the peace of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." - Jeremiah 29:7

PAX North Church seeks to bring value to the communities in which we live. To do so we purposely invest our ministry energy, resource, time, and creativity into:
1    meeting the needs of our community
2    partnering with those who are seeking the peace of our community
3    promoting projects, organizations, community efforts that seek to bring value to our city

Yearly we will invest in both short term and long term projects, organizations or community efforts.
Here are two such Value Projects that we are promoting:

Street level
The ARK is a youth drop-in, in Halifax, dedicated to providing a presence of stability and respect to street youth. Youth who are on the streets, or are in danger of being on the streets, can go to the ARK and get both material and emotional support.
Paul Holmes is a street chaplain for PAXnorth. Paul offers emotional, spiritual and resource help to those who live streetlevel in our city.
Update: PAXnorth has been privileged to serve the ARK by joining them in the heart beat of prayer and service. PAX has sought to make our church community a place of safe welcome for many of the least of these in our city, Paul is a key part in that becoming a reality.
If you would like to know how you can help us in our partnership with the ARK or with Street Chaplain Paul call Brad at (902)488-5362

Saturday Breakfast
Saturday Breakfast was a direct response from area churches to fill the gaps in service to those in need in our community. Several churches have committed to providing breakfast on Saturday mornings for a one month period. This initiative is spear headed by Elna Seibring, Community and outreach Pastor for:
All Nations Church

Update: Brad has been going every Saturday morning to hang out, eat breakfast, have conversations and build bridges with the guests who come.
Want to help? We could use some more bodies to serve alongside PAXnorth to take over another month as a church.
We could use a couple of regular subscriptions to Saturday's Chronicle Herald, newspaper, that our guests enjoy reading while having breakfast.
We could use a small amount of funding to put towards the costs of purchasing the need foods for this ministry.
If you are able to help- Call or email Brad (902)4885362

Under Resourced Families and at Risk Children
Kids Fest Canada - "Its in the Bag Backpacks"
RUNNING AND READING AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS
In partnership with Kidsfest Canada we have launched two Running and Reading Programs in two of our northend elementary schools. This coming fall we are preparing to launch a Running and Reading program in a Northend Dartmouth school. This is a unique weely connection with many of the most at risk kids in our neighbourhoods. Weekly they train in fitness and reading in a coach to student atmosphere. We are always in need of more coaches who will consistently help to teach kids in both running and reading!
Update: We presently are preparing to run a kids 5km run along with some 2000plus other kids in the Blue Nose Marathon weekend! Our kids are running for a total of 29minutes each week in club time! Each student has greatly improved in their desire to read and enjoy books! We could use 5 or 6 more coaches to help us end the year well!
We presently have three other Value Projects under development through our small groups:

Rejoice Kids- support leaders
The Fish- Drop-In and Coffee House
Mulgrave Park Housing- outreach and care development
